Route data is loaded into the system from the NextStop content platform and the app communications with the buses real-time information system to update screens throughout the journey including events such as change of service or direction.
One of the great aspects about the NextStop solution for Rise Digital Media is the integration with connecting services. Through the content platform administrators can assign connecting bus services and rail departures for relevant bus stops. This means the NextStop system is capable of providing a more rounded travel guide experience.
Whilst in transit, NextStop communicates with a remote server every 15 seconds to provide real-time updates for the vehicles's journey.
Ad-content and operator messages can be transmitted to the NextStop Controller in real-time based on the vehicles location.
Rise Digital Media provide a revenue share opportunity for advertising and promotional content. For advertisers this creates an exciting opportunity to present location-based content to passengers. Adverts can be placed at bus stops, on entire routes and across the entire network. There's a range of media types as well, as based on the media partners requirements. For operators the revenue generated through advertising should allow running costs of the system to be marginalised or completely offset.
Our latest pilot for First on LeedsCityBus has launched with much fanfare!
With a large contingent of press, user groups and Cllr Eric Firth, the launch concluded with a demonstration circuit of Leeds city centre.
"We are committed to making our services as accessible as possible to all our passengers. We are therefore excited about this pilot, which we think has the potential to revolutionise bus travel for all passengers as well as the blind and visual impaired community."
