On Wednesday 1st September, our Head of Software (Kelvin Thursby) and Client Success Manager (Kate Holder) were delighted to attend an Audio Visual Announcement System Programming Roundtable hosted by RTIG and the DfT in Birmingham.
The purpose of the roundtable was to bring together operators, authorities, suppliers and transport stakeholders to explore how the process of creating, maintaining and deploying audio visual announcement content can be simplified and made more efficient.
While AVA systems are now mandatory, many organisations continue to face operational challenges associated with maintaining route information, stop sequences, announcement content and service updates. These challenges can result in duplicated effort, inconsistent data, increased administrative overhead and delays in deploying changes.
The roundtable examined opportunities to streamline processes, improve data flows, reduce manual intervention and identify practical approaches that make AVA systems easier to configure and operate (and support compliance with the Public Service Vehicles Accessible Information Regulations 2023).
We look forward to working closely with many of the stakeholders we met last week, not only to support our own clients in the best way possible, but also to help guide data standardisation industry standards as they are defined and formed.
