The deployment introduces portable window-mounted passenger information screens and Bluetooth speakers, helping Spirit of Sussex provide clear visual and audible information during rail replacement operations.
Rise Digital Media completed the deployment of 16 portable rail replacement passenger information kits to Spirit of Sussex last week, supporting the operator’s work delivering replacement transport services across Sussex and beyond.
Spirit of Sussex is part of the Go-Ahead Group and is one of five operator businesses included in Rise Digital Media’s current Go-Ahead deployment programme. The wider rollout also encompasses Oxford Bus Company, East Yorkshire, Go South Coast and Go South West operations.

Passenger information wherever it is needed
Each portable kit combines Rise Digital Media’s window-mounted passenger information screen with a Bluetooth portable speaker and portable hearing loop product. The solution is designed to be installed quickly in vehicles being used for rail replacement work, without requiring a permanent onboard installation.
The window mounting system allows the screen to be positioned prominently for passengers, while the accompanying speaker provides an audible information channel. Together, the components give operators a practical way to deliver consistent visual and audio information across temporary or mixed vehicle fleets.
The portable format also allows kits to be moved between vehicles as operational requirements change, an important consideration for rail replacement services, where fleets, routes and stopping arrangements can vary from one deployment to another.
Demonstrated with the Spirit of Sussex team
As part of the deployment, Stephen Conyers, Chief Deployment Engineer at Rise Digital Media, worked with Finlay Whelan, Technical Lead at Spirit of Sussex, to demonstrate the installation and operation of the portable equipment.
The session gave the Spirit of Sussex team an opportunity to see how the kits can be fitted, positioned and prepared for service, as well as how they can be transferred between vehicles when required.

Scott James, CEO and Founder of Rise Digital Media, said:
“Rail replacement operations create a particular passenger information challenge because the vehicles and routes involved can change at short notice. Our portable solution gives operators a flexible way to provide clear information without relying on permanently installed equipment.
“We’re delighted to have completed this deployment with Spirit of Sussex and to continue extending the solution across Go-Ahead’s operating businesses.”

Go-Ahead rollout continues
The Spirit of Sussex installation forms part of a broader programme covering five Go-Ahead operator businesses: Oxford Bus Company, East Yorkshire, Go South Coast, Go South West and Spirit of Sussex.
The rollout will continue with the next portable kit deployment scheduled for Procters Coaches, part of East Yorkshire. This next phase will further extend the availability of portable passenger information across Go-Ahead’s rail replacement operations.
By combining portable hardware with straightforward installation, Rise Digital Media is helping operators provide passengers with better information—even when services are temporary and operating conditions change quickly.
